Depicting Man’s Influence on Nature

As nature photographers, we see man’s influence on nature everywhere we go. In many cases, that influence is destructive – pollution, loss of habitat, etc. Other times, it can be more “constructive” in nature, such as measures to slow erosion.

EPJ Gallery Moderators' Statement

We hope the gallery can become a resource to anyone needing help with photos they intend to use in support of causes important to them. In our experience these can be documentary as well as stock, and can illustrate both problems and solutions.

Our goal in moderating will be to help you get the most "bang for your buck" in photos of issues that concern you, rather than debates about what is or is not an environmental issue, to help you do the best job possible with your issues as all of us learn a little more about issues around the country and world. Debates along those lines belong in the Hot Topics forum.

The EPJ gallery will work best if comments and reactions aren't "hit and run." By that we mean that photo posters should check back on the reviews and react to them, answering any questions that reviewers post along the way. By the same token, if you post a review, check back and see what the photographer has to say.

We hope you find this gallery useful and informative!

Additonal Guidelines

In addition to our standard posting guidelines, these additional guidelines apply;

  1. State the purpose of the photo – what influence is it intended to depict
  2. Critique the photo on how it could have been improved to better convey the intended message
  3. Do NOT discuss or debate the underlying political issues – that is not the intent of this gallery!
  4. We strongly encourage active dialog between the photographer and those offering their comments
