I use a piece of foil coated insulation to add fill light to shadows. Costing about $8 for a 4' by 8' sheet, I cut one half into smaller pieces for travel and keep the other half as a single 4' by 4' piece. I keep one of the smaller pieces in my trunk just in case I need it. These low-cost reflectors are an easy way to balance light for both macro subjects and outdoor portraits.
