In 2001 I bought my first camera set up and thought it would be a fun hobby spending time in nature shooting. Little did I know that this would turn into a full time business within four years. I started out as a landscape photographer but lost interest when I stood shoulder to shoulder with about forty other photographers shooting the same scene. I wanted images that I could call my own that hadn’t been shot by hundreds of other photographers. When I started shooting macro I realized that all of the images I was photographing only lasted from a few hours to a few days before the environment erased them. These were images that only I witnessed and photographed and could call my own, and knowing that I was the only one with that image made it special.
I am proud to have won many awards including three years in a row here at NPN in Editor's Pick Awards, flora category. My images and articles have been published in Outdoor Photographer, Nature’s Best, Photo life, Nature Photographer, Whisper In The Woods, NANPA’s Expression’s books, Fujifilm’s newsletters, Pure Michigan book, and recently released my own how-to macro book called, Tiny Landscapes. I teach macro workshops to all levels, and now offer an online macro workshop. Please visit my website at www.tinylandscapes.com.
