The brown and green vegetation reflecting in the water provided a
beautiful, yet simple background for this swan and her newly hatched
family. The slight diagonal line and position in the frame add to the
sense of movement, while maintaining compositional integrity. I substitute
metered off nearby trees and closed down 2/3 of a stop for to maintain detail in the whites.
Matrix/Evaluative Metering would have over exposed the swan, as it would
try to make the background a mid-tone.
