Explosive summer...

We have a extemely hot summer period at this moment. And all the flowers seem to explode . This group of Heleniums is really showing off its color palet. I was completely hypnotized by the structures of the heart of the flowers.

Very engaging photo Ellen. The heat of summer seems to have translated directly into this photo as I feel the warmth of the all those vibrant colors radiating out. Although I don't know Heleniums as a plant, the 'structures' appear to be dozens of stigmas - the tips of the female flower parts that receive the pollen. Thy make an absolutely fascinating pattern that you have capture wonderfully here! Great job!

Ellen,

I love the colors here and the dof/selective focus is perfectly handled. I even like that there's like a soft-focus halo around the main flower. Well done.

Ellen, Brilliant shot. Very good details. Correct decision to place the point of interest on the right side. I would have loved to have a more visible secondary object in the left by using a smaller aperture. This would have bought you more depth of field on the main flower too. :toast:
