Violet-eared Waxbill
by Nate Chappell
These beautiful little birds are fairly common in weedy areas in parts of Namibia. This one was photographed at the Ondakaremba Guest Farm, a fine place for a bird photograher or birdwatcher to spend a few days. This was taken from a hide, very near to a small waterhole that was setup for bird photography. Small crop from the left and the right.

The red beak, violet ear and red eye are stunning color combinations, great pose and background with beautiful details.
Excellent image as posted.
