Striated Grasswren #2

Long weekend here so what better to do than go back up to Hattah Kulkyne National Park. Perfect conditions Saturday morning when I got this one. Clouds built during Saturday and it became oppressively hot and humid. Sunday dawned with a howlingly hot northerly wind and dust storm. When the tent blew over for the second time I packed up and came home!
I attempted to clone the secong twig but the cross-hatch of oof grass stems made it a lot more difficult than it first appeared.

Canon 1D2n with 500/f4 and 1.4X exp comp -1/3

cheers Rob

Beautiful image. The colors are gorgeous. I think the second branch adds to, not detracts from the image.

Beautiful image, Rob. The second branch doesn't really distract, since it's so close to parallel with the first. That would be a royal pain to clone out and the texture of the grass helps make the image. I really like the colors in this one. :toast:

Hi Rob

I don't mind that second branch at all in this image, it is strong with or without it.

I love the nice details in the plumage, the grass in the background and the perky pose.

Excellent as presented.

This is a sweet little bird, and very well captured. I don't mind the second twig a bit; in fact, I think the comp would be a bit too spare without it. Excellent work!

I think this is great, as is Rob. I too like the second twig. What a neat little bird and with that long tail in focus too.

What an incredible looking species! Really love that background...great dof to bring out a touch of lines that really bring out the patterns of the bird even more :toast:

Just beautiful, Rob. Not sure why you'd even consider cloning out the second branch, as it only adds more balance to the photo.

Given that the grasswrens are such difficult-to-see birds, how'd you manage to get this one perched out in the open?
