The setting sun really lit up the Hoyt Arboretum and luckily I found this backlit pair to end the day. Full frame.

Will: A beautiful pair indeed but what really makes this special is the BG. Very nicely done. >=))>

Excellent lighting and colours against a great BG.

I agreed with Bill, even before reading his comment - the BG is the real star for me in this shot. I love the leaves, but I double love the BG.

For my tastes I seriously don't think it gets any better than this Will - the bg, the back lighting, the quality of the light, the composition, the texture in the leaves, the hole in the right leaf and the irregularities around the leaf's edge as well as the fact that the branch is in sharp focus. To the extent that I try to understand wabi sabi as a design principle, I'd think this is pretty much a perfect example. Of all the images I've seen and admired over the past year and a half, this may well be my favorite.

Extraordinary! Perfect composition, even better BG to showcase the leaves. Awesome light and details. Love all those veins in the leaves!

Two dying leaves on a twig, yet what an extraordinarily beautiful image, William ! And so well set against such a delicately coloured BG

This is superbly beautiful, Will. The mottled bg, the sharp detail in the leaves and twig and the lighting is perfect. Print large and hang!

Elegant simplicity, details, comp and well as the background. All work together nicely for a complete, excellent image.
