I used this photo for New Year's card :-)
I might try to change composition a bit to avoid the black left bottom corner.

My pictures from Borneo were taken during my participation on Pesisir Balikpapan research and conservation project (soon i'll put info about this project in english on my website). The project was started about 3 years ago and it's goal is establishment of protected area in mangroves in Balikpapan Bay (East Kalimantan, Borneo, Indonesia) and preventing destruction of mangroves and attached rainforest by construction of road and ilegall activities.

I have never seen one of these before. Is it an animal or a bug or what? How big is it?
What ever it is, I love it! Almost looks as if he could be jet-propelled! Really a nice shot. I am glad you shared this one!

Alexandr, this is one of the coolest little creatures I have seen. What exactly is it? I think your use of him on a New Years card is perfect! It looks like confetti coming out of his @$$!
I think the cpatue is terrific, my only small nit, is I wish the entire right side was in the frame.

Alexandr,
Great photograph of this colorful little insect!
Identification of these early instars is a challenge. Looks like it was in the egg not long ago.
I am generally not fond of the black background that often comes with using flash in extreme close-ups, but it works well in this case.

Amazing! I half expected to see R2D2 somewhere in the frame. Speaking of the frame. I wouldn't crop it. It's wonderful just as it is, and a crop would put the little fella too close to the edge.

If that fluff ended any time soon, I sure would have liked to see all of it included in the frame. That's minor though. This is such a great subject that any comments about framing or composition are probably pointless. Great New Year's image!
