What colors and what an image! Tonality and dynamic range is just stunning in this photograph :toast: :toast: . A very minor nit is the red border to the image which is slightly distracting, but I feel it's a personal choice

This is sweet, Pat. I love the bold colors as well as the lighting here and the black BG is the perfect canvas for this beauty.

Cool shot Pat! This is better than any star gazer shot that I have ever gotten. I like the comp and the look to the stamen and anthers.

Thanks for the comments you all. I appreciate them.

Rosemarie,

It was a five stack composite and I had the aperture at the first 6 on the Zeiss (love German interfaces) which I think maps to an f stop of f/16 or maybe f/13. Since I was shooting from a tripod and in aperture mode I didn't pay any attention to the exposure time. Although I had the exposure compensation set at nearly negative two f stops. I find that If I don't set the exposure compensation down I end up with blown highlights. The tradeoff of course is blocked shadows. Ah well... (smile)

Pat: The overall tonalities set the mood of this image . which is serene, almost intoxicating from the lush vibrant colors. Viewing this image is like drinking a classic wine . A flawless capture.

This is eye-candy! Love it. The application of light - shadowing along the petal's curves and texture gives a stunning 3-D look. Great. Ken S

Oh, this is such a rich image, it is almost decadent. Great technique with both the natural light and the technical work, as well as the composition.

Pat, this is so cool! The stamen almost looks neon or something. Wow....I got to try that Helicon focus sometime. Is that software pricey? Way too cool! :toast:

My hat's off to you, Pat, for the best image of the week in Flora. And what a week it was with everyone really pulling out the stops. It makes us all that much better with our lovely, in some cases dazzling, subjects. :toast:
