I would like to hear your thoughts on this image. There was a tradeoff between DOF and background clutter, as usual. I believe this was taken around f/4 All comments welcome, thanks!

Hi John, thanks for stopping by. This is a leaf in the process of unfurling, not sure of the ID. I thought this was ok in this forum b/c I didn't do anything special in PS. Thanks.

Hi Matt,
This is a pretty cool shot. I like the shallow DOF and the background is perfect for the subject. You also have some interesting contrasts here. The sharply focused inner curve contrasts with the OOF parts. The light and dark portions of the leaf contrast with the light and dark parts of the background. It all comes together to create a very artistic interpretation. Well done.
The only change I could wish for is a looser crop. I'd like to see the full sweep of the curve at the top.
Cheers,

Matt,
Now this is using your imagination. I love how the twirl just sort of fades out into the background, excellent work.

Very original and pleasing composition. Excellent use of selective depth of field. Sometimes the best shots are the "simplest" in terms of single subject, limited colors, and no distractions. Great job.
