Catawba Fence

Jerry Greer was kind enough to mention this very appealing fence and the Cataba rhododendron that bloomed on it. He has a very nice shot of it in his 2005 calendar and his new book that I got a chance to look after taking this picture.

Thanks, Jerry!

Sony DSC-F828, f/8, 28mm equiv., very slight crop to the left.

I like the lighting, the fence and rhododendron, with a foggy background is incredible. Nice shot.

I have seen Jerry's version...and yours is great too. Two small elements that make the shot for me are the evergreens in the BG (in the fog) and the grass in the FG that seems sort of blown around. The Rhodies are great too of course...and the fence; I love fences. Nice shot all around.

Yes, I remember it definitely and was going to ask you about it before reading the description.

Great image, did I tell you that I used to think you use LF?

Ditto Nathan’s comments (except I haven’t seen Jerry’s version!) The foggy background and the grass are great accompaniments to the magnificent bush and fence.

"...that I got a chance to look *after* taking this picture..."

That's your story and you're stickin' to it!

Nicely done. There's a "chilly" feeling to this, brought on by the fog and the windblown grasses. Excellent!

Actually Todd now that you mention it, Jerry told us where the picture was taken *before* I saw his shot in the calendar, but the light conditions weren't right. This one was taken *afterwards*, the next morning, with lots of delicious fog to play with. So I had my chronology screwed up there. That's what I get for staying up after midnight looking at prints and photo books with the SENP crowd when we had a 4:00 AM wakeup call!

Prashan, yes you did mention you thought I used LF once upon a time.

It's that non 3:2 aspect ratio!
