Harris's Sparrow
Harris's Sparrow in a spruce tree, which for me has been much harder than getting a photo of them foraging on the ground.

Really nice pose and surroundings. I always find it interesting when a certain bird species can be seen all the time in terrible photog locations, and it's impossible to get them just sitting in a tree. I know it drives me crazy how often I see ravens/crows around, and yet I have 0 pictures of them.

Nice to get one off the ground and in such a nice setting. Looks like you were ready for him. Is that Crazy Glue I see on the branch?

Very nice Terry. I like the way he is framed by the OOF foreground and background. Sparrows are some of the prettiest song birds IMHO.

Love the pose Terry - the sparrow looks so proud of himself for standing in the perfect spot for you in that mottled light and giving you such a great head turn. Really nice image!

This is a beautiful little bird. The flash work is very nice. I'm only bothered by the light areas in the bottom and left corner of the image.

A pleasing shot even with the bright LL branch. Note that without an embedded color profile it looks a bit bright overall on a Mac that hasn't been reset to a 2.2 gamma, so if you want your images to appear the way you have prepared them on more viewer monitors it is a good idea to always embed the color profile.

Hi Terry,
Excellent light and details. I much prefer the tree shot than one on the ground. For me small birds on the ground just never have much appeal.

A stunning image. Beautiful relaxed expression. I think it's the background with the light brown areas mirroring the colours in the bird that makes this so good.;

Beautiful shot Terry. Though there are OOF areas in the foreground, they do help to isolate the bird.

Terry,
I've looked at this over and over, it is just that lovely to me. I like the way the OOF branches in the foreground echo the ones in the background, and I find the background extremely appealing. Love the bird's pose, colors and sharpness.
You have posted many beautiful photos, but this one just hopped to the top of my favorites of your images.

Some months, when I log onto NPN... I get a smile on my face when I see the cover photo... this is one of them. I don't get a chance to see this birds. The setting, focus, and over all mood of the photo is so enjoyable to see.
