Beautiful image! I like the late sun reflection in the water and the Tigress just hovering above it, as well as her beautiful eyes! My only nit wouuld be the inclusin of the back paw, as it is the cutoff version is just to incomplete, i'd like to either see the whole paw or no paw, but thats pretty minor overall! Great Image!

Hi Jorne

This is a full frame image horizontally I only cropped little bit from top and bottom and if I included the hind leg too then I wouldn't have enough space in front of the tiger and the ripples would have got cut ... and as another option if I cropped the hind paw then the front elbow would have almost touched the frame which I didn't like so I kept it like this

good to hear your reasoning S Das! It was just a minor observation. We should ask vincent how far along he is with his 200-600 f4 zoom lens

This is a very nice image Subharghya. The lighting is excllent with the brightness of that puddles drawing all the attention immediately to the tiger's head. I do wish the tongue were out, something which would support the drinking behaviour/action much more. I also agree with Jorne that the complete inclusion or exclusion of the hindleg would be a better presentation. This is where my dream lens would have come in very handy, then you could have made both versions within a few seconds  :toast:

Subharghya, I love the light in this image! i agree with others about the back paw. having the elbow being close to the frame is not as big a deal for me a half a paw. I too wish the tongue was out, but hey...can't have everything right? This image is VERY solid as is and I hope someday i get the opportunity to shoot these amazing animals in their natural habitat.

Wow, really wonderful image. I don't mind the cut paw, but the top left light area does catch my eye. Burn that down and you got a wall hanger.

Hi Subharghya,

I like this image very much as posted. I think your reasoning on the crop is sound. I can understand the comment from some others about the tongue, but to me the pose as captured looks like a tiger about to drink, but momentarily distracted by something else - which leaves me wondering what it was (i.e., contemplating the image). I love the look of power and strength conveyed by that front leg and shoulder.

Cheers...

Hi Subharghya,

Congratulations on your selection as "Pick of the Week" in the Fauna Gallery. I chose this image because, to me, it epitomized what we all look for (and strive to achieve) with our wildlife photography: a stunning and charismatic subject in dramatic light giving you a near-perfect pose. In my eyes, everything came together almost perfectly here and you have a shot that any wildlife photographer would love to have in their portfolio. VERY well done!

Cheers...
