Robber Fly
I'll check the metadata in the computer file when I get a chance. Meanwhile, the metadata in my head is that this was made in natural light helped by a reflector. The grass was close to a usually un-used door of the cabin. I just happened to notice the insect as I walked by. I went back inside, carefully opened the door, set up the tripod and framed the insect against the brightly lit vegatation that was several yards in the distance. This is one of the only times I can recall doing indoor-outdoor macro photography! I gradually moved the tripod closer, taking a frame after each move, until I was at the mimimum focus distance of the lens. Thanks for the comments.
The metadata say f/22 (I think that is because this lens loses a stop at closest focus), 1/10 sec, ISO 200, it also tells me it was made on July 7, 2008 at 5:32 pm (but this camera is an hour off when I cross over to central time).
