First Blush

Sony A700
Minolta 200mm macro
ISO 200 1/20 @ f22

We must have over a hundred day lilies of various types in our garden and while this is still early in the flowering season the blooms so far have been spectacular and prolific. Shot this one about 15 feet out the front door at dawn this morning with some sweet soft backlighting. Its also the first bud to flower on this plant so I'm anticipating many more opportunities in the weeks ahead. All comments welcome.>=))>

As fine a lily image as I've seen Bill. Perfect in every respect for my tastes and then there's the light.

This is very nice. I am arrested by the sharp center, but supported by the grand, sweeping lines of the rest. I admire your composition.

Excellent color, composition and detail. But, it's the lighting that puts this over the top. Nice stuff!

Soft light, colors, and sharpness of the anthers and stigma make this a very attractive image :toast:

Lordy, Bill! I don't know whether to stand up and salute this flower or bow down in homage to it! What a glorious image. I think it deserves both a salute and a bow!

Love the pic, every aspect of it seems spot on i'm just wondering what it would look like not stopped down to f22. As in the petals being OOF and make an interesting BG....Just a thought.

Beautiful lines, comp, detail, and color Bill. I also love that soft glow from the backlighting. This lily image tops anything you've done before and you have some stunners.

The light, the light, divine! The ray of sun warmth the colors, shapes the stems and anhence the texture of the petals. How a common subject becomes a unique and beautiful photo, Bill.
Cheers.
