Rich Ditch inspires me

Weekly Challenge #383

Richard Ditch has a personal style that quite often shows birds of subtle coloring on a similar colored background. Rich does that so well that it often inspires me to look for situations where I can find birds of subtle coloring against a background of similar hues. I find his images delightful and hope that this image shows his influence on my own personal style.

Rich also inspires me to do better work with my post processing and has helped me when I have had issues with certain images. In doing so he has helped me become a better photographer and increased my post processing skills.

D200, HH, standing, f6.3, 1/1250, ISO 250, 80-400mm VR at 280. Image is cropped to vertical presentation from horizontal. The Willet was coming in for a landing on the shore of a lagoon at a local county park, I took perhaps 4 images, but this was the only one I was able to get a catchlight on. There are a few whites of one pixel in size that went over 255, working on those with my uncalibrated lap top screen is difficult.

Thanks Rich, for inspiring me, and for all that you do for the Avian NPN members with your thorough and concise critiques.

As always, I sincerely appreciate your comments & critiques, thank you for looking.

I feel honored by your comments. And I am glad that you picked my fondness for understated color rather than my tendency to partially obscure my subject with foreground branches!

Very interesting moment in time, Lia, and very good tribute to Rich. Those feet in the relaxed position are pretty cool. I'm still amazed how you can get such excellent HH images.

I like the artistic feel of the almost B&W image..in fact it may work well as a B&W which is difficult with avian subjects. Richard has inspired many of us and this is a fitting honor.
