EPA 2009 - Second Honorable Mention - Weekly Challenge Gallery

These Skuas raided a nest of King Shags, with the female in defensive posture trying to protect the stolen chick. The outcome was not a good one for this Falkland Island youngster.

Canon 5D, Canon 70-200mm @ 200mm, 1/1000 sec., f5.6, ISO 640.

I know every critter has a place in nature, but I do not like skuas. Everytime I watch a nature documentary and they come on the scene I know it's gonna end badly. Excellent capture!

Very fine, dramatic shot David. The DOF fits this situation very well.

This image certainly tells a story of conflict David. The expression on the face of the parent and the almost resigned posture of the chick speak volumes for what's happening here.

Greqt action catch! The shots in this category this week are superb - makes me feel better, since i was going to submit a great wolf vs wolf shot, but it is on my home computer and I'm away and can't get to it.
NOT as good as several already posted here!

Anyway, wonderful shot with perfect dof for the action, great angle, colors, and story.
