Nice! The light on those formations is fantastic! As much as i like the pink clouds up top, i think this would make a terrific pano too. Good work, John.

This is nice John, I really like the soft light here and the clouds really help out that sky. The more I look at this, the more I like it. Really nice mood here, very quiet and yet alien.

Nice work.

I know exactly where in the badlands this is; I was there two years ago. When I was looking at this "wings" formation, the light was (ahem) nowhere near as nice as this.

Were you able to hike out before darkness set in? One night when I was there I shot at Bisti Arch until twilight and it was a bit of an adventure getting back to the south parking area.

Love the capture of these formations, and the delecate clouds above add a nice texture and color balance to the image as a whole.

John,

Wonderfully titled and just incredible imagery. I love those capstones especially the middle one with its slightly tipped up tail. That lighting is magical as well, really nice. I need to visit this place some day.

The tones of the rock are amazing, I like the mood that they set. I think I'm with Stan, I like the idea of a pano with the top part cropped off. The composition is also very nice with your placement of the rock formations.

Thanks for the kind words, folks.

Hey Kerry,
This was less than a mile back to the vehicle along a dead flat course.
It was a breeze getting back!

Thanks again!
