Stands Still

Morning light peers at ferns through a thin layer of distant fog on the Bells Mountain Trail in Southwest Washington, USA.

Nature in general, and more specifically nature photography, takes me away. Time moves at a different pace, and I’m just one small human lost in the grandeur of it all.

I often have wandered, in deep contemplation
It seems that the mind runs wild, when you’re all alone
The way that it could be
The way that it should be
Things I’d do differently, if I could do them again
(From John Denver’s Whispering Jess)

This has a very dream-like quality to it. The golden light at the top is wonderful. Beautiful composition and the ferns are so pristine. Working a beautiful scene like this would certainly take me away as well. Thanks for sharing.

Sweet light, and great choice of dof to get everything sharp. There's nothng like a walk in the woods to slow down and appreciate the grandeur of creation. Nicely done.

A good photo always starts with good light. That's the first thing I noticed here. I love the way you used the contrast.

Like the tonal range of the greens to the glow of the yellows. Really like this and the feeling of the lush forest. Well done.
