highlight against shade

I am posting this in photo art because I have removed a fourth elk which was behind these three in the shade. That level of manipulation is not something I would normally do...but I felt the extra animal ruined the shot as taken. I really liked how these three elks' bodies were in the sunlight while their immediate surroundings were in shade. This is cropped a little and a bit of canvas added as well. Other than that I applied some selective sharpening...

I love the movement and the elks lit up against the background, a very nice capture. I might be inclined to crop out the sunlit area at the top and make it a pano, as there is not much to hold my interest up there.

The light on the elk makes for an unusual image. I can see a pano crop working too.

I really like it. It is almost like it was two images with the elk superimposed on the background. Gives it a real 3-d feel to me. I love the details in the elk too.

Your use of "creative license" sure looks good, Lon! I like this a lot, particularly the way the sharpening turned out. Good shot of the elk and a great mix of light and shadow.
