Bargnesi's Pond

Here in Southeastern Connecticut we still await peak color on most of the forest cover. However, red maples in swamps and ponds are at or near peak. I try to keep my eye on this pond in Montville and I think I caught it right around peak color.

Canon 40D, 28-135 at 65, 1/40 at f10, tripod, polarizing filter, early morning light. Sharpening and contrast adjustment in PS3 raw converter.

C&C always appreciated.

Gorgeous, Larry! I like the colors, the reflection, and the overhanging branch on

This is one sweet image! Excellent comp and color. I used to live back east, not a s far as you though, and love these types of scenes.

Larry: This is spectacular IMO. If you have more we are having a fall color theme in Flora next week. Something like this would be most welcome. Superb shot.>=))>

Delightful colors and depth offered by the light. A wee bit more web sharpening wouldn't hurt, other than that just wonderful.

I loved the thumb and this meets all expectations. That reflection is seriously good and the whole comp keeps me looking. Well done.

this is gorgeous!
sweet light and composition.

I think the tonality of the image could be adjusted a little as its a bit flat? Maybe compression is hurting this...as id imagine the file is quite large as is the nature of images like this with those details!

Thank you everyone for your kind comments.

Bill, I'll certainly try to post at least a couple of images in the special flora theme next week. Here in the Northeast we have good photo opportunities, but, none better than our fall color IMO.

Patricia, as I write this, it is printing on canvas and will be hung prominently under my canopy at the Roseland Cottage show in about a week.

The standard version lost too much detail to compression, but the larger photo lived up to all the expectations I had from the thumbnail. The crispness and colors really rock!
