Blue Ridge Autumn

by Philip Southard

Gallery: FloraPosted October 16, 2009116 views10 comments
The Blue Ridge Mountains as seen from Shenandoah National Park. Comments/suggestions much appreciated.

Sony A300, Tamron 17-50, 1/40 @ f16, 200, tripod, and I think I used a grad. ND.

P.S. Had to compress pretty severely to meet the posting requirements. As such, that did affect the detail.

Beautiful understated colors. I like the diagonal lines as well. Nice work.

I agree, the diagonals do work well. Are those trees just turning? If so, I wonder how this scene will look in a week or two.

The detail and texture in this photo, Philip, are so well-defined that I can almost feel them. Really excellent work! (The full-res image must be spectacular.)

What a glorious mountain day! This image really captures the mountian feel on a partly sunny fall day....diagonals are wonderful, nice detail and good light.

Very nice tonal range on this fall shot. I would be tempted to darken the 2 clipped areas of the clouds in the top center. Looks like beautiful country :toast:
