Hi all,

So I just got back from a trip to Spain with Marsel, and I can finally start posting again. No images from Spain yet, first a few more of Finland so I have some time to process the images first

This is an image of a young bear standing on his hind legs to watch an adult male approaching. Comments welcome!

Tech:
Sony a700
Minolta 300mm f2.8
iso 800 @ f/4 & 1/2000

The standing posture and curious look are good enough to make it a terrific image...liked the light and setting too... :toast:

Jorne, I love the light on this. The interesting pose with the outstretched hands is just too good. I can see that there was no way to avoid the tree trunk behind the bear's head.

Great work !

I like the posture here.. and also really enjoy the way that the bear is "mirrored" by the trees behind it. Good stuff

Love the picture. Great timing on catching the bear standing. I wonder what the picture would look like if there was more room above the bear's head. Great picture. I wish that i had been there to see it all.

This is a fun picture Jorne and technically well handled. At first I was going to suggest cropping a little off the bottom, but on second thought I feel the OOF FG may indeed serve a framing purpose here. :toast:

Fine capture! I would go with a little off the bottom. I like his eye and pose.

Beautiful light and a cute pose! Good timing catching him looking around on his hind legs. You have some incredible bear photos. :toast:

Hi Jorne,

Cute bear that looks quite startled! The light on the bear is nice and I quite like the vegetation the bear is standing in. If the image were mine I'd be tempted to crop a little off the left and the bottom - to my eye the bear is just a little too centred (and I don't think the out-of-focus foreground adds a lot). It might also be worth selectively reducing the brightness of the tree trunks (just slightly, so they're no brighter than the main subject).

Cheers...nice to see you back - looking forward to seeing more from your various trips...

Thank you all for the comments, especially about the crop. I felt this image needed a crop but was not sure how to, now I have a much clearer image ( ) of the situation! :wavey:

Jorne, looking at your repost, I think the crop from the bottom is resulting in a better image after all.

Hey Jorne,

Sorry for the slow follow-up - I definitely prefer the re-post! To be honest, if it were mine I'd still shave a little more off the left side, but that's definitely a personal preference thing...

Cheers...
