Exploring the Pisgah National Forest on Halloween, turned a corner and saw this. It was so nice to photograph in a peaceful area by myself after last week's assembly line in the Smokies.

I shot this with the 8x10. In that version (plus the larger one here), you should be able to see the droplets of water, as this was shot in the rain. But, in the meantime, I just have the digital version to post.

Wow, what a find! That tree really pops. I like the placement of it as well. Would love to see a print of this from your 8 x 10.

Very cool find Michael, I absolutely love the red tree in the midst of the monochrome forest.

This is a beauty. It should be awesome on 8x10.

MH,

Man, I got wet and stayed wet all day! I was down in the Blue Ridge of SC.

I love the pic but I have to ask, was there a reason that you clipped the top of the tree? I hope you didn't on the 8x10!

Beautiful, Michael. Red and gray work well together. I also like the placement
of the red-leafed tree off center and the diagonal line of its trunk. The little bit of
red in the bottom right corner helps to break up the plain of gray and adds a nice
touch to the composition.

Jerry, You know, I just grabbed the first good one I saw, and realized that there was a better comp in the ones I shot. How about this one?

Michael, I think I like the second one slightly better. Gorgeous color contrast. Good find and capture.

Very purdy, Michael! I actually prefer the first, with more prominence for the red.

A beautiful farewell to autumn for sure. I think the "blacks" could be a smidge darker with good effect, but this is pretty powerful as is.

Please post the 8x10 when you get the films back. The deatil there just cries for big film. I love the stark constrast between the red and the muted green. Really nice.

This is excellent. The detail on large film should be something to behold.

A strong color statement, and an equally strong comp.

Nice image! The tree in the first is a bit crowded, You could maybe crop the second just a touch tighter and get the best of both. They are both great images.

Hey Michael,

Both images are really, really nice to look at. Fascinating, as Doug said. Great stuff.

Cheers

What a strong comp with the super-saturated reds against the almost monochrome background. Very lovely.

An incredible image Michael. The vivid contrast in colors, the wonderful textures and lines of the trees, make this superb. The 8x10 transparency of this must be stunning. Exquisite fine art.
