Sweet Dreams - Canyonlands

This is an in-camera double exposure shot taken in Canyonlands NP. I liked the simplicity of the form in the foreground and decided to add the moon from that night into the frame via the second exposure. Taken shortly after sunset. Both done with a 500mm + 1.4tc and tripod on Velvia 50.

I feel the same as Cindy! I really like this shot, but feel it would be strong with the moon less centred.

Cheers,

Well, done! I think this is well composed because the moon is EXACTLY where it is. You have a geometric triangle centered at the bottom pointing to a geometric circle almost centered above. The image has a sense of geometric harmony and balance while being a bit uncomfortable in its dramatic symmetry. If you place the moon a bit to the right then you should place the rock a bit to the left for proper balance of composition. How comfortable that would be - How banal and boring! You seized an opportunity for something unique and risky and accomplished your vision - well done! Keep taking risks and dare to make an uncomfortable image that is still compositionally successful!

God Bless
