There's something special about it every year. Whether or not I'm looking forward to riding my bike to work in it all winter, I was enchanted by this blanket of white from Saturday morning.

Kent,

I love the overall monochrome tones except for the hint of cyan-blue in the chunk of ice. A very peaceful image.

I like everything about this, especially how the band of fog creates zones in the image. The blue in the glacial ice looks very natural to me.

Enchanted is the right word for this. You captured a wonderful atmosphere. The fog and the iceberg are really strengthing the composition. Beautiful image, Kent!

Well composed and great mood. I'm also not a fan of the blue that still is in there.

Gorgeous shot Kent. Strong comp and a mood that I like a lot. The ice also looks very natural to me on my uncalibrated MacBook Pro 17.

Wonderful image Kent. I'm immediately drawn to the hint of color in the snow/ice. The rest of the scene is entirely monochrome - did you process it this way, or is this a straight shot? No matter to me, in fact I would try and emphasize the blue/cyan in the ice even more if it's in the file to start with.

Beautiful image.

Lon - The image was not converted to black and white, though I'm guessing that some viewers assumed otherwise. On the other hand, it's not entirely representative of reality either. I applied a rather minimal desaturation to the photo globally in raw conversion. Then I reintroduced some of the original color of the iceberg and (though it's much less obvious) the small spruce trees near the edge of the lake. In my eyes, the photo begged to have the natural contrast between the faintly blue berg and the monochrome surroundings enhanced to the current level. Thanks for asking the question, and I hope you find this response.
