Treasure Falls

I took this shot a few years back at Treasure Falls in Southern Colorado near the summit of Wolf Creek pass. It was an autumn morning and it was cold. The spray from the falls was freezing into ice on the rocks surrounding the falls. I've left a touch of blue in the water for a fairytale feeling.

Comments and critiques always welcome, and thanks for looking,

Morris

Seems like a little more than "a touch" of blue, at least on my monitor. That said, I like the falls and the ice covered rocks, basically the left 75% of the image. However, I don't think that the trees in the URHC and the less visually interesting cliffs on the right add much to the composition. Accordingly, I'd suggest cropping this just to the right of the splash pattern at the bottom, to more of a pano format.

Lol, Jim stole the words right out of my mouth...about the blue that is--before i read your comments i was wondering if strange lichen had formed all over the edges or something. I like the comp though, the trees add a nice element and some scale here. Id probably neutralize the ice and maybe leave a hint of blue for the water.

Eye-catching and unusual capture with strong contrast and splash of color thrown in.

This photo made me look. And I like the whitish texture of the rocks almost more than the color of the plants.

Great eye.

This is beautiful, Morris! I like your handling of the blue
in the water. However, I agree with some others concerning
the blue in the rocks. I feel as if it's a bit overdone there. Nevertheless, I really like the image.

Nicely composed image, but the blue seems a little to much to these eyes.

I like the dark mood here, morris. the ulc seems a tad bright though and the blues as mentioned are a tad strong. you could play with the hues a bit or go to the blues(selective color) and try some mix of other tones, bring the blue cast a bit down. I like the reds and greens at the right side of the fall. very nice comp.

Morris,

Great shot! I have driven by this trailhead many times and have never stopped. Your image will make me stop the next time I pass through the area! I agree with the others a little tigher crop on the RHS. But I do like the shrubs near the water.

Great capture! :toast:
