This little guy was feeding his/her chick out of frame. I'm curious to know if you think the termite remnant in the beak is objectionable?

Canon D30 Canon 400 2.8 w/ 1.4x 125th f4.5 window ball mount iso 200 50% crop

Thanks for looking!
Comments always appreciated!

Nice pose captured Neil, the termite remains aren't a big deal, it's stood up to the crop quite well.

Not objectionable at all. Very pretty bird, good pose. Background suffers from jpeg compression - lots of artifacts there.

This the original crop and, it too, is noisy. Shot with my very first digital camera in sRGB jpeg. Yikes!
I'm revisiting some of these old images to help understand where I've been and where I'm going. I don't mind the self deprecating nature of the process and would hope everyones comments will continue.
Thanks for participating in my continuing education.

Great colors, details, and exposure Neil, well composed.
The termite remnants add IMHO, but easily removed of course..
Guess it depends on what kinda mood you're in
Noticeable artifacts in BG large view, due to the 50% crop I suppose.
You don't say what cam..
That said, still a very nice catch :toast:

Beautiful bird. The colors, background, and perch are all good. I like the termite remains. All in a good meal. I think I would crop a bit less, maybe a landscape crop.

I love the bird and like your comp in the original post Neil. For me the bird is too centered in your repost. The termite is fine. I'm wondering about a little more DOF, esp with that background.
