WC 407: Life embraces death in the forest. Rebirth of vegetation amongst the fire damage forest is easy to spot this time of year with the changing colors. Fire damage in Palomar Mountain State Park occurred during the wildfires of 2007 here in San Diego. This fall I was happy to see new growth coming in nicely. Never knew so much poison oak existed here, but the red color this time of year makes it very easy to spot. Hand held this shot in low light (aperture 2.2), so I am not to happy with the low depth of field. Would have liked it to be shaper. Comments welcomed. Thanks

The textural and colour combination here is quite effective at grabbing my attention. I also think the form and colour of the rhus nicely suggests the flames of the preceding fires. Very pretty.

Could be a tad sharper in places, I guess. At this size, it isn't much to notice though (maybe a problem when larger, of course).

Very actual shot. I've seen something similar in Victoria, Australia this summer. Trees damaged by immense forest fires covered by fresh vegetation. Well done David.

I can spot that stuff from a mile away. I like the way the poison oak stands out against the burnt tree. Well done.

I agree with the other posts. The photo is eye catching from the color contrast alone. Texture and dof looks ok to me, at least on my monitor.

Thoughtful submission.
