Lone Blossom

Here is another post from that gem of park I explored this summer. I hope you all don't mind that my first couple of posts have been summer images. I've been very busy with school work since early September and so I haven't had much time to shoot anything new. Not sure what kind of flower this is but I found this single blossom very pleasing. The late afternoon sun was setting to the left. Does the centered flower bother anyone? Or the OOF flowers in the background?

All comments and critiques welcomed. Thanks

Hi Elliot, You caught some very nice evening light, which put a nice glow on the flower. The only thing I might do different is remove the bright stem bottom left. Nice work.

Good idea, and well executed!
A slight move to the left might have made this a bit more symmetrical, but that sort of thing appeals to me. Agree with John about 'losing' the stem and perhaps the OOF horizontal line coming in at top left.

yeah, sweat image. very delicate and pleasent. nice focus here. I just might have that stem in the fg cloned, minor issue though. nicely seen and composed.

Same nit about the stem for me, but I like it. The centered flower seems to ba balanced by the OOF ones. :toast:

What a elegant and delicate capture of this flower, it's a sweet shot.

There is a tad bit more room on the left than there is on the right, so I might crop ever so slightly from the left to balance the image out perfectly, but this is sure a beauty.

I really like the creativity in this. The light and detail is great too. I agree with the crop/clone suggestions, but other than that very nice shot :toast:

Elliot,

At first I was kinda bothered by the out of focus stems, but in revisiting this a few times and reading the comments about the symmetry, it makes sense and I like this more. The light as mentioned is very nice and you've captured excellent detail where it's needed; and the shallow depth of field works well.

Clone out the small piece at the bottom and possibly the fuzzy line in the UL, and this should work nicely.

Thanks for the comments everyone. It's funny that you all mentioned the bright stem at the bottom. It's so obvious, yet I never really noticed it. I agree removing the stem from the bottom and the line from the UL would make the photo much stronger. Thanks again
