At this time of year the bill is not the same uniform orange as usual.
I find the big pale feet with black toe-nails to be quite creepy!

Suggestions for improvement always welcome

Stephen, I like the natural setting, your black exposure looks good and your composition works for me. Looking at the larger image I do think the head and eye could be slightly sharper.

Great details in the blacks, and throughout for that matter. Wonderful rocky scene and a clean view. Don't see this lens in use a lot; impressive image quality in this one. :toast:

Lovely shot of this bird. Wouldn't mind seeing this from a bit lower perspective, but that may not have been possible and of course things like that are always subjective.

Stephen

I think the black toenails make this bird species look a touch "Goth"!

I like the great setting, the great details in the dark feathers, the natural colors and the pose.

Agree the head and eye could be slightly sharper, that should be easy to do.

A great species. I go along with Ron D's comments on this one. Just a bit soft in the head area.

"soft in the head area"............would that be the photographer or the subject? Probably both!
But seriously, thanks for catching the softness, which I have now fixed (but no reposted)
