Good photo. I like that you have detail in the blacks. Only thing I would suggest is to clone out the OOF branch coming from behind the grosbeak at an angle. A little distracting, but not a major concern.

Nice bird and habitat together. I might be temped to try a little more saturation, rainy conditions usually allow for a bit more sat I think. A matter of personal taste though and I haven't seen this species so I don't know exactly what color the breast should be and I'm basing comments mostly of the spring leaves.

These are one of my favorite summertime birds here. I like the headturn and how he is position to show both his breast and back. The black is perfect but do think the orange could be a tad more saturated. I like the bit of rain on the foliage too.

Neil,
I like the pose of the grosbeak, how you were able to get light in the eye, the way the bird has the wings spread and the background.
There are a few areas where I see evidence of a fine, thin halo around the bird, branches and leaves, that should be easy to fix though.
I think the rainy day worked very well for your exposure, the color combinations of the bird's plumage must be challenging.
An appealing image as posted.

I like this Neil. I enjoy your comp, the setting, your black exposure looks good and I'm always impressed by the massiveness of the beak. Personally I wouldn't clone anything here. Nice capture.

Like the composition and leafy twigs throughout the shot Neil. Adds to the already colourful bird.
