Blowing Dune
by Bill Chambers
This was captured on a blustery day at the beach, right at sunset. This is my first attempt at high key processing, and I'm very interested in obtaining feedback; I'm kinda sitting on the fence with it. I've included a larger version as well for you to view.

50 commentsWhat a perfect scene for this sort of technique. No suggestions whatsoever, although I would appreciate suggestions on how you accomplished this conversion.

This is really as good as it gets. This looks very much like a fine art pencil drawing to me. That said, some may argue that this might be more appropriate for the Photo Art Gallery. But I'm really glad you posted it here, otherwise I probably would have missed it.
I love the high key nature and the excellent framing!
Cheers!

Fatastic high key work Bill. I've got to try this some day.
I like the sweeping graceful curves. Almost an "S"curve from the upper left grasses, leading right, into the diagonal line of grasses, down to the sweeping line of sand leading out lower right.
The processing is perfect, with the gritty texture to the sand foreground.
All you need maybe is a snow fence in the bg for an added compositional element, then you could truly be on the fence!
I'm with Guy, not sure why you're on the fence! Wonderful!
Simple yet very effective high key. Nicely seen and composed.
