Captured this image last week while co-leading a workshop at Bosque Del Apache National Wildlife Refuge. Early morning light.

Cloned a head from the right edge, cleaned up the water and added a little canvas on the left.

500mm f/4 with 1.4X tc
ISO 400

Keith, this is very nice. I love the rich colors, the habitat, and the take off pose. Great detail in the bird and great light.

The larger version is fantastic - beautiful detail and you froze the action perfectly.

I think this is one of the more difficult species to photograh well Keith and I like this very much. I especially like the wing position and the water being pulled up by the take-off. Very crisp also.

Keith, I love this take-off capture as opposed to the usual flying crane. Perfect SS, great sharpness and beautiful colors.

Perfect timing on this take off shot Keith! This is one of my favorite birds to photograph and I think you captured this shot beautifully.

Perfect timing ! Great detail and comp. The head seems a little soft, so some added selective sharpening might help since the rest of the body is tack-sharp. .

nice shot Keith. It's a very well captured take-off--I like the pose and the water at the feet. Nice and sharp in good light.

Gorgeous. I love the water coming up with the feet, the warm light on the wing, and that beautiful yellow eye. I like the crop too, plenty of room in front.

Excellent timing, Keith! Speaking of timing, I was there the first part of last week - you must have been there about the same time.
