Afternoon in the Madison

This elk was with cows on the Madison, Yellowstone. He spent all afternoon trying to herd them togather, but part of the herd wanted to be on one side and the other stayed on their side. He was a little frustrated.
I am not sure how everyone feels about this type of shot, so I am very interested in any comments.

Thanks for looking at my picture.

I like this shot Jack. It does look like the light brown of the bull is over exposed a bit. Also, my preference would be to have him a little to the left in the photo, but you don't want to lose the rock and geese. My two cents worth for a nice photo :wavey:

Hi Jack. It's a wonderful setting with a wonderful subject. I don't know what your shooting situation was, I'm guessing you were on a bridge? If you could zoom out a little I would suggest including a bit more of the river in front of the elk to give a more defined visual path along the waterway. As an aside, I'm told that the Elk in Jasper were reintroduced here from Yellowstone, they sure look alike anyway.

Hey Jack

Perhaps a TAD hot, but not too much on my monitor. Considering the angle of light, the shadows aren't too bad either.

Cheers

I agree that brightness could be toned down a bit. The river is a tell tale marker of this being in Yellowstone! I think I would like the pose better if he were moving instead of stopped to look at the camera.
