Emergence

Was playing around (unsuccessfully) with swirling leaves when this ghostly shape began to rise from the swirling water, reaching toward me. A demon emerging from a gateway to hell? Or Floris coming up for air with his underwater camera housing? You decide . . .

Really not looking for critiques on this, just having some fun. Let's see how many different interpretations we can come up with!

EDIT: New rule -- mere comments are not allowed. You must come up with an interpretation of the eerie shape formed by the swirl, or vote for an existing one!

Nicely done Ian.

No matter what it is, it certainly looks great. The swirl in the fg matches the "hole" in the bg perfectly. Very unique image of that location.

"demon emerging from a gateway to hell"

Doom in one of my most favorite games to play, though I can't imagine it in the Subway. So, I'm going with a poltergeist of some type.

Okay folks, if you're not going to come up with you own interpretation of the eerie shape formed by the swirl, or vote for an existing one, then you're not allowed to comment!

Thank you Ron for playing along!

Obviously this is a rare capture of the even rarer Giant Albino Canyon Salamander (Slimoblancus gicanticus) disturbed from its slumber by the marauding Floris! Man Floris, you're lucky you got out of there in time!   Ian, you need to call national Geographic, Animal Planet, or Unsolved Mysteries. Not sure which.

This reminds me of one of Scully and Mulders encounters on the X Files. Way cool image, Ian. I am not sure what you did to pull this off, but the swirl is definitely eye catching.

I'll play....

I think Floris farted when he was in the water, and this is the remains bubbling to the top. So, yeah, like you said....a demon emerging from hell.

Its either that, or you shaved one of your good luck llamas, and tossed the fuzz in to bring some llama-light mojo to the subway.

Contest over folks, I know I'm right.

These are all starting to get really good! I thought nothing could top the Giant Albino Cave Salamander, but I do think Aaron has taken the lead . . .

I always thought the Michelin Man was a bit demonic looking!

Joel, you know the rules . . .

This is for sure a gate to another dimension in which photographers can take pictures with their eyes and make stunning high quality prints just by thinking of it. Of course, there are a lot of creepy creatures there, so photographers should be careful. I'm seeing Floris coming out and by the looks of it, I doubt he's one of ours. Be careful, Ian. If he's stuck in our world, he'll be the greatest photographer ever.
Hope this works, Ian!

Easy one Ian, it's the ghost of a photographer who slipped on the wet rocks trying to make it to the light at the end of the tunnel, probably broke his camera, and that is why he has his hands in the air, I'm right HUH.

It's obviously a time portal with a traveler inside. I went into one once as a kid--ended up in some freaky place full of dinosaurs and bizarre looking creatures that we called Sleestacks. I learned to stay away from these after that.

Don't you guys see it? It is clearly a wormhole into an alternate universe. Ian obviously just emerged from the vortex at the top of the frame and is about to enter the second. Ah, the beauty of the space-time continuum. (Watching too many goofy Stargate reruns I think). Seriously, this is gorgeous.

Best shot from this location I've seen so far Ian. The foreground makes the picture stands out and the colors are well balanced. Lovely shot. The swirling water leads my brain to Tolkien. Could be one of thos creatures emerging.
