Hey Folks,
A little sunshine, a grizzly bear and CF card full of memories.
Cheers

Hi Carl,
A very nice portrait of a species that I kind of like ! I love the background colours (and the smoothness of the colour transition back there) and the subject is nicely rendered (and darn sharp) in that sunshine. I expect some will make some comments about the out-of-focus foreground grasses, but they didn't negatively influence my eye flow and do add a nice bit of context (and colour) to the image. I do wish there was a little more room on the right side of the bear's head (left side of frame) and that none of it was clipped, but there's the real world, and then there's the perfect world...
Cheers...thanks for sharing this...
Brad

Great shot. I like the texture of the fur and water droplets. The eyes are amazing. Thanks for sharing!

Aside from the left side of the face being up against the frame, I have nothing to complain about. The detail and sharpness are excellent but it's the beautiful light that makes this one shine (sorry for the pun)

This picture tells a story of a bear and what could have been the next meal! You! Is that blood around the mussel? Great picture! Thanks for sharing.

A powerful portrait Carl! Great detail captured here. Brad already brought up the grasses, personally I would have preferred they were not there, but they certainly do not harm the image.

Normally I, too, would think it better not to have the frame intruding on the left side...BUT- in this instance I think the feeling is almost macro, that the image is about the bits of remnant blood on the lips and nose...and about those sun drenched eyes. Without those details it might not have worked, but I think in this case the close framing works very well. Excellent shot!

You didn't give any of your shotting info so I too am wondering just how close you were to this bear!! The image is awesome with the combo of great light, great subject, excellent details, etc. Personally I am not bothered by how close he is to the edge of the frame in this case because my eyes are caught and held by that incredible face.

Great shot, Carl! Beautiful light and the eyes are so cool. I always think those eyes are to small for such a big bear!

Hey Folks,
Thanks all - I was pretty close to the bear, he popped up out of the grass, and I took a few quick frames while slowly easing away.
Cheers
