Grey Seal

This is a wild seal, it lives in Eyemouth Harbour in the Scottish Borders with 5 others. He begs for food by slapping its flipper on the water so people can throw fish to it which they buy on the quayside

He's a cheeky little chippie but good fun and the and the holiday makers love him

Canon 50D canon 300 f2.8 lens, f6.3, 1/2000 sec ISO 400

Very nice close up of the seal Ron. Very sharp and nice composition, especially with the little splash.

Cool capture. I especially like that you have a light in a seals eyes, something I have not often seen. The face might be slightly (very slight) beyond the best focal plane, as it seems that wonderful splash of water is the most crisp element. This image will win hearts with that antromorphic smile on his face!

Anthropomorphic indeed! I really like the texture of the water, and the splash is stellar! I agree with Lon about the POF.

Quite delightful. I love the smile second only to the splash. Nice colors too. Looks like a very friendly bloke.

Hi Ron,

Love the expression "cheeky little chippie..." (I have many friends from the UK and it reminds me their expressions) - and sounds like it's an apt description of this beast! You can pretty much just ditto me for Lon's comment, but please add I just love how the water in the background (including those beautiful blue reflections) is rendered.

Cheers...thanks for sharing this...

Brad

Very nice Ron, I love the wave action, the ripples and the reflections. The subject is perfectly placed in the frame, well done. :toast:
