The great northern diver is a very rare bird in Holland. I think this is a juvenile. Wonderful bird and bigger then I thought it would be.
Taken from a floating hide. Weather is crap. Very windy and wet but I think it was worth the effort.

Nikon D3, Nikon 200-400 iso 200 1/60 sec. f/5.6

Just super Edwin. I love the light here and the color of the fish's fins really pop. Very nice detail and comp. Well done for sure.

WOW! Talk about a LOW angle.... amazing shot, especially with only 400mm focal length. Also amazingly sharp with such a low SS Can't say enough good things! :toast:

No larger image though? Come on!!

Easily worth the effort. This is a rare sight in many ways. Not just the diver itself, but it having caught a fist, the low perspective and just the head sticking out of the water.. not to mention the great amount of detail. Fabulous!

I didn't realize that Common Loon (as we name it) was a rare bird for you.

A very nice and unique image!

Really spectacular, Edwin. The low angle and shallow DOF place total emphasis on the subject. Very nicely captured.

Just amazing Edwin - the low perspective, the orange fins against a grey picture, the detail, water droplets. A unique and very special shot.

Just beautiful, Edwin. Can't get a lower angle than this without going under water.

Stunning shot Edwin. Great composition and image quality. Low low range of colour emphasises the moment. Very well done.
