Sticks and Stones

This little gem just stopped me in my tracks when I spotted it. Almost instinctually, I knew it would make for a good composition. The two stones are solidly embedded in the exposed tree root. I can't recall ever seeing anything like this before. In camera, I framed this vertically, rotated 90° clockwise. But this horizontal format seems more appealing to me.

Great find, Jim. The warm colors really make this work for me. Good choise on the rotation too.

I really like how the leaves ground the abstract quality of the root/rock.

What a very neat gnarled piece of wood! Really nice image, and I agree with the horizontal format.

I really like the odd weirdness to this one Jim. Beside the cool fact that roots are growing around the rocks, there are intriguing patterns in the roots and the warm glow is very nice too.

You know what Jim, I really like this, beautifully put together, with some very nice light and color. Good eye.

I like the earthy tones and detail in the tree root Jim. The larger view is delightful with a lot to look at, especially with the clarity and rich color. I love intimate images like this since they let my imagination run away. I could swear I see a few faces in there. Nice work.

Jim,
Nicely seen. The image is a bit abstract, but the shapes are so interesting, it really draws you into the image. I agree the horizontal format works better than vertical. Best Regards.
