I don't think I normally have this effect on females but last Friday this was the normal view of the American Wigeons I found in Tucson, AZ. Maybe I should check my deodorant.

You take what you get and actually, I kind of liked this shot.

Sometimes an unconventional view works and I feel this is one of those. I like the plumage detail on the back. And I LOVE that fanned tail.

It is different Hans but still appealing. I too like the fanned tail with the water droplets trailing off and the water is very unusual in a positive sort of way. The bird is sharp and the motion blur of the wings works for me. Interesting image and your comment made me smile.

It's more publishable than my shots of fleeing females.

Sometimes shots such as this provide a view of a bird's plumage that is not usually seen and I like such shots. We can start a new category (FBIF - fleeing birds in flight) to join (BOS, BIH, and BIF), but it may take a long time to become as popular as the existing categories.

This really works well for me, I am enjoying the back side view, the spalshing water and the stories I can imagine about the duck fleeing... and giggling about your deoderant comment.
