Theme-One Little Curl

This is one from summer 2009 from my favorite local Dahlia farm making its debut now at year's end. Loved the one small curled petal and wanted to define it as well as depict the soft colors through shallow focus.

D700, 105/2.8 micronikkor, tripod; f 4.5, 1/1000, ISO 640. Breezy with rain showers.

What do you think? Thanks for looking and offering your thoughts.

Merry Christmas to all here. :wavey:

Catherine, lovely soft colors and focurs except for the one sharp curl.
This has such a lovely soft feel about it.

I like the way the colors define themselves in a soft way and that the focus finds the small curved petal as well as the lines and curved shape of the other petals. A very pleasing composition :toast:

Soft but with lots of energy Catherine. Beautiful complementary colors and a very striking image. I like this one a lot.

Neat idea Catherine, isolating that one small curved petal. Highly effective. Great color also. And a Merry Christmas to you!

After reading your description Catherine, I feel you succeeded most admirably in capturing the one small curled petal. IMHO great composition, color, and selective focus and dof! :toast:

Great POV, Catherine. Skillful handling of the limited DOF. Curl makes the shot in a sea of soft colors :wavey:

Must admit I don't recall this one, Catherine, but glad to see it now. Actually, for me, it is less the little curl than the overall, largely oof effect which captures my attention. Excellent composition too.
