As I was driving home from (of all things) a dentist appointment this morning, on a back country road in PA I've rarely been on, I noticed as I was going up a road, a series of ponds... each one a bit higher than the other. I thought there has to be a stream and falls somewhere, so I turned around and went down a side road. Sure enough, much to my amazement was this beautiful scene of about five separate stepped falls... probably the site of a mill at one time. I can't find it on PA Waterfalls, so I think of it as an early Christmas present to me. I had my camera, but not my tripod. I took as many shots as I could before my fingers froze. It was really overcast, and last minute the sun came out.

This one was shot at ISO-80, 1/500th, f-4. Larger version posted too. Have many others I shot at slower speeds using the bridge as my brace. Any C&C welcomed!

Looks like a nice surprise you discovered. Definitely looks like a place to go back & visit during better light. One of the things I really like about nature photography is just getting out to explore not knowing what lies ahead.

Thanks Kirk, yes I was still "novocained" from my dentists but this find made it all worthwhile. Will be back very soon! Just a quick B&W version.

This is a special location that warrants return trips to capture in multiple light conditions and seasons! Nicely done.

Thanks Lon, I will certainly return many times, and have just gotten some background info about the site which helps. Look forward to more shoots...
