Yosemite Christmas Plan

Well, that was the PLAN. But the storms in the midwest grounded me. Just as well, as the fresh snow in the trees melted on Wednesday. This is from a previous Christmas week at Yosemite.

At dawn, the light on El Cap doesn't glow orange like every picture ever taken from this scene, but because of the position of the rising sun, the relief on the monolith has more interesting shadows.

Graflex Crown Graphic 4x5, Shneider 90mm, 81B, polarizer, 2-stop grad. 8 seconds at f-45. Velvia 50

Michael,
You don't see as many morning shots from Valley View, as you do sunsets. But this is a very pleasing image. I totally agree, the shadows on the face add a lot to the image. The snow on the rive doesn't hurt either. Thanks for sharing all of your wonderful images this year. Best Regards.

As classic as classic can possibly get. The grad and lack of processing correction is a defnite 90's throwback for me, but that's a good thing.

Aside from some processing issues, that a truly amazing winter scene.

Sorry the weather didn't cooperate for you this year. Hopefully things will work to your advantage in the near future. As to this photo this is a classic view. The lighting is great.
