Whitecaps

A cold morning, about an hour after dawn at Golden Garden Park, Seattle, WA. This is a beach along Puget Sound, where the pattern of frost on the sand reminded me of whitecaps out in the Sound on a windy day.

D200, 105 micro-nikkor, hand held; f 18, 1/160, ISO 320. Bright, crisp, and cold with cloudless sky.

Hope everyone had a joyous Christmas and looks forward to 2010. Best wishes to all here!

Beautiful abstract. I would have never known that this was frost on sand

Definitely and interesting parallel to the ocean waves. Wonder if at some level the physics are similar. The frost and shadows make for some nice accents to the waves, though I could see pulling back the contrast a bit to slightly soften the overall feel of the image.

Beautiful abstract Catherine. Really like the rhythm of the composition, color, and textures. Great eye; most would not even see this. Yeah 105 micro! Excellent work.

Thank you to all for your comments.

Tony: you're right. It does look softer with the contrast pulled back. Adjusted the curve and yeah, easier on the eye. Thanks for noticing and commenting on that.
