Hope everyone is having a great holiday week thus far and that Santa was kind. I haven't been on the computer for a few days and was pleasantly blown away by all the stunning work that's been posted lately.

I've often thought that these alpine "snow goblins" looked like otherworldly life forms. This is from a couple of winters ago on a very clear, cold and windy February day in northern Vermont. I couldn't understand why I was having such a hard time staying warm on this summit until later when returned home, crawled into bed and proceeded to come down with the flu.

Considering a black and white version of this to accentuate the feeling of being on/in a foreign landscape. Which do you prefer?

I prefer the color version Kurt since it accentuates the cold. However, both have their merits. Great find BTW.

I like them both. This is aptly titled, particularly considering the formation middle
left. Well done, Kurt.

Both are excellent! I do like the cold emphasis of the color version. But the bold silvery effects of the B&W are hard to beat.

I prefer the color version. A simple strong graphical image. Love those trees.

Hey Kurt,
Great eye and I think I prefer the color version with maybe a slight brightness boost on the moon. I know its probably natural as is but for some reason what to see it highlighted. Im really diggin those snow blown trees.
Very cool and Great job

Both work on different levels, but for me the color is killer with that blue and white contrast. Gorgeous shot!

Black and white would probably work, but this is very effective too--blue and white. Amazing how trees survive this.

I like both versions but the colored is a killer imo and I love b&w images. there´s something about the blue version that keeps my eyes glued, very misterious. great comp and nicely seen kurt.

Superbly crafted image, Kurt! It's simple, but very effective, straight-forward, but very mysterious. I like both versions!
