While not quite New Year's Eve yet, this macro of bubbles trapped in ice on a pond near my home reminded me of Champagne bubbles. I have also posted a B&W version below. Hope everyone has a great 2010!

Canon 5D Mark II
Canon 180mm f/3.5L Macro
ISO100 1/6sec f/16
Hoya Polarizer

Thanks for looking. All comments and critique welcome and appreciated.

Added Note: Received notification today March 03, 2010, this image was accepted for the juried 2010 Maine Photography Show which will be held at the Boothbay Region Art Foundation Gallery in Boothbay Harbor Maine. Here is a B&W version converted using Silver Efex Pro. Which do you prefer?

Really starting to like these macro abstracts that have been posted here lately. This one is really cool Eva! I like both, but I prefer the color version, as I think it has more depth.
Definitely reminds me of champagne bubbles. And on that note, have a great New Year!

I instantly thought of champagne, before reading your text! I really like these as subject matter for abstracts too. Really great! Happy New Year

Nice shot Eva. The color holds more impact for me and you should try a cooler version as well...?
Love the different sized bubbles and depth to go along with it. Well seen
Happy New Year :toast:

Haha! I thought you started your celebration early when I saw this post! How cool is that! Bubbles trapped in ice. I like the color version because it seems to have more dimension to it and even a degree of softness (in a good way... perhaps I mean softness more as in warmth, inviting). Love all the different sizes of bubbles, bubbles in bubbles, repeating bubbles, bubbles, bubbles... It's fun.

Fantastic shot Eva. I love them both but think I'll give the nod to the color version. The arrangement of bubbles is great, coming right at the camera! :toast:

Great stuff, Eva. I really like it! Of the three, the cool version speaks to me the most. Possibly not natural color-wise, but it conveys the icy feeling the best, IMO. :toast:

Spectacular! Ice bubbles have always fascinated me and this photo only increases my fascination. The B&W conversion is killer, but i'll have to go with the cooler version. Neat shot

Unmistakably champagne! :toast: (that's meant to be a Champagne toast, and not a beer toast  ) I like the original color version better.

Excellent, Eva. As I already said on dA, I'd like a blue version and here it is. It's not monotone blue but close to what I imagined. Have a great 2010.

Splendid bubblescape ! the proportions of the different bubble diameters is intriguing and extremely balanced, as is their spatial arrangement. Personally, I prefer the first, color, version.

Hi Eva :wavey: Rested my eyes for a week, and missed a lot of the action. Everyone is doing superb creative work, Like your spectacular bubbly presentation  The champagne companys should buy this image, it would surely sell magnums of their product. love all three versions, but the first[color] to me is the best. Happy new year, and take it easy on the champagne :biggrin

I love this! Would like to see a try at keeping the bubble's cool but leaving the background brown tones warm - probably a job for Viveza but might be worth a try. Fantastic image either way!!!
