Symphony of Chimes
by Anthony Vincent
Happy New Year to all! Last post of the year and Im thrilled to start a new year of photography. Im equally excited to see what all of you will bring here to this fine gallery.
Lots of rain which turned to ice then finally snow led to some fun and interesting conditions. I like to head to the waterfalls of Starved Rock before they freeze and capture the magic of such conditions. About 95 percent of the time trees and branches blocking falls are not photographed, by me as well. This is one example that I felt needed composing. The falls playing there own song and the chime like string of icicles compelled me to fall into a symphonic state. I like to shoot winter falls with a cooler WB (5000K to be exact) giving the cool sense of the dark canyon its mood. I know this is an odd comp so let me know if you like it.
Thanks for your time and comments

Love the yin and yang here with the static icicles and the dynamic falls. Perfectly composed and exposed, and a great choice of color temp. Excellent work all the way around, Anthony!
Chris - No blurring was used. The falls is very ribbon like and the 1/4 sec exp yielded the best results for me anyway. I did slightly dodge the highlights of the bg falls because I was very careful not to blow out the highlights. I was going to experiment with an ND but I lost it on my last outing
I give it a 9 out of 10, well done.
Can you shoot me an email ?

This is fantastic. The composition really emphasizes the spectacular foreground ice and the cool tones are very fitting. I love everything about this image.
