Ice Haven + Repost
by Elliot Johnston
Surrounded on four sides by roads and cars, Hoyt Lake isn't exactly what you would call pristine wilderness. But living in a city means photographing in a city. Daily trips to deep woods outside of town just aren't realistic. Cloudy and foggy conditions are really helpful because I can get away with shots looking across the lake without getting the hand of man in the background.
Intrigued by some of the ice shots lately on ESS, I found some interesting ice patterns of my own and tried to compose a photograph that kept the eye moving through the scene and that was interesting to the viewer. Two hours later this ice patch was gone, buried beneath the snow for the winter.
Your thoughts appreciated. Thanks
